Privacy notice

This notice explains what personal data Uplifting News handles, why, and your rights under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). The short version: you do not need an account, the site sets no cookies, runs no scripts and has no analytics, and we keep no record of your visit ourselves.

Who is responsible for your data

MWG Technologies Ltd (company number 05858621, registered office Unit 9 Green Lane Industrial Estate, Thatcham, Berkshire, RG19 3RG) is the data controller. Contact us about anything in this notice at hello@mwgtechnologies.co.uk.

What we collect, and why

Visiting the site. The site is a set of fixed pages. Your browser’s request for a page carries your IP address, the page asked for and when, as every web request does. We do not log these requests or use them ourselves. Our hosting provider keeps its own technical logs (see below).

If you email us, we use your email address and message to reply, and keep them only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.

• Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in running a working, secure website and in answering the people who write to us.

We do not ask for your name, we do not sell or share your data for marketing, we do not build a profile of you, and we make no automated decisions about you.

Who else is involved

• Microsoft Azure hosts the site for us, under a contract that only lets them process data on our instructions. The pages are served from Microsoft’s Western Europe region and its worldwide network, which keep their own technical logs under Microsoft’s terms.
• Links to publishers: when you follow a headline to a publisher’s site, their privacy policy applies there. Your browser tells them only that you came from this site, not which page.
• Publishers’ feeds: our own system reads publishers’ feeds on a schedule. Nothing about you is sent.
• Anthropic: headlines from general news feeds are judged by Anthropic’s AI model. Only the publisher’s headline and summary are sent; nothing about you is.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of your personal data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to data portability. We will reply within one month. There is no charge.

Complaints

Please contact us first so that we can try to put things right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or call 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top. See also cookies.
