When love meets creativity, we get stories like that of Kristy Bellmer, who transformed her grief into a breathtaking adventure. The American cyclist, known for her uniqueness, has set the world record for the largest GPS drawing by bicycle, and she did it all in honour of her dog, Slinky.
A Trip Like No Other
Starting in the charm-packed city of Amsterdam and looping through several picturesque European landscapes, Kristy's journey spanned an incredible 4,707 km (2,925 mi). With ambition fuelling her adventuring spirit, she not only wanted to create a massive dog outline but also make pit stops in beloved cities like Paris and Brussels, and visit friends in Switzerland. She playfully adjusted the design, saying, âI ended up making the butt bigger to get to my friend in Garmisch!â Who knew a butt could be so strategic?
Battling the Elements
Ah, the weather! It doesn't always play nice, does it? Battling the rain throughout her tripâfrom flooding her tent with numerous downpours to dampening visibilityâKristy faced the unexpected with remarkable humour. Despite a certain mountainous region being an "unexpected surprise," she managed to maintain her spirits and her excitement for adventure. Just think of it: even the rain couldnât overshadow her determination!
